This year we discovered that Peter, the little boy from Ezra Jack Keats The Snowy Day, was inspired by this picture of a little boy from Liberty County! We are anxious to find out who the real Peter really was. This short article was printed in the May 13, 1940 issue of Life magazine. Mr. Keats saw this article, cut it out, posted it in his studio, and saved it for 22 years. When he was creating the picture book The Snowy Day, he used this Liberty County resident as his inspiration. At Liberty Elementary, we were delighted to make this discovery and now we want to find out more about this little boy!
